The Alabama-Coushatta Indian Nation Volunteer Department proudly protects approximately 2500 people living in an area of about 900 square miles. We operate out of one station located on the reservation and we protect primarily a rural area. Our department is an all volunteer fire department.

Our department has been in existence since 1974 and was established with four members and a 1974 Ford fire engine. Over the span of years, our membership has grown to twenty-four dedicated men and women, of which most are enrolled members of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe, and we now have four fire trucks and two basic life support ambulances.

The backbone of our department is the continued strong support from our tribal members, tribal council and the surrounding communities which we serve. Without the help of these people, and especially our family members, the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Nation Volunteer Fire Department would not have survived nor would it have grown into the department we are today.

At this time we would like to say "thank you" to our families and friends who have encouraged us to keep this great organization going and for the support they have given throughout the years.

Thank you to all the men and women in the Fire and E.M.S. profession for your dedication, unselfishness and proud work you do when called upon.

May God Bless You and Keep You. Thank you.
